Replit alternatives
Pick the replacement by the reason you want to leave. If the code workspace is more than you need, Lovable and Base44 let you build by chatting, with the backend included. For a phone app, try Emergent. To stop paying a platform for the builder, Dyad is free, open source and runs on your computer.
If you liked Replit because you could see the code, Claude Code and Cursor give you the same control on your own machine: you pay for the AI and choose your own hosting.

Why people look for a Replit alternative
Replit puts an AI agent inside a full code workspace, which is great until it is not. These are the usual reasons people start shopping around:
- It feels too technical. Replit suits beginners to developers who want to see and edit code. If you never want to open a file, a chat-only builder is calmer.
- The free plan is tight. Starter gives daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, Lite build only, and one published app that goes offline after 30 days.
- The running costs. Core is $20 a month ($18 billed yearly), and production databases, storage and publishing are billed from credits on top of building.
- You need a phone app. Replit builds web apps and other projects in a code workspace, not native mobile apps.
Quick match: your reason, our pick
- No code at all, backend included: Lovable (Pro $25 a month) or Base44 (Starter $16 a month billed yearly).

- Mobile app: Emergent (web and mobile apps, Standard from $17 a month billed yearly).
- Free and local: Dyad (open source, bring your own API keys).
- More control than Replit: Claude Code or Cursor (both from $20 a month).

Moving a project off Replit
The full project lives in your Replit workspace, so you can take the code with you instead of starting over.
- Get a full copy of the code and keep it somewhere you control, such as your own GitHub account.
- List what the app depends on: the database, file storage, user accounts, and any payment or email services. Those parts need a new home, and the data needs exporting.
- Going to a no-code builder (Lovable, Base44, Bolt, Emergent)? It is often faster to describe the app again and import your data than to port the old backend.
- Going to Claude Code, Cursor or Dyad? Open the code locally, ask the agent to get it running, then pick hosting and a database.
Keep the Replit version published until the new one has your real data and has run for a few days.
