Base44 alternatives
Start from the reason you want to switch. For the most similar chat-to-app experience, try Lovable. For a phone app as well as a web app, try Emergent. To see and edit the code with the AI still helping, use Replit. To stop paying a platform for the builder, Dyad is free, open source and runs on your computer.
If you can work in a code project, Claude Code and Cursor drop the platform entirely: you pay for the AI and choose your own hosting.
The shortlist

Lovable

Why people look for a Base44 alternative
Base44 is one of the cheapest ways to get a working app with the backend included: Starter is $16 a month billed yearly. So price is rarely the reason people leave. These are the usual ones:
- Message credits run out. The free plan gives 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month, across up to 5 apps. A few long fix-and-retry chats can use that up.
- You need a phone app. Base44 builds web apps. If your users expect an app on their phone, you need a builder that outputs mobile apps.
- You want to work in the code. Base44 is built for non-coders. If you or a developer want to open files and fix things by hand, a code workspace or coding agent fits better.
- You want to stay independent. Base44 is now part of Wix. Some builders prefer an open-source or local tool where nothing depends on one company's plans.
Quick match: your reason, our pick
- Same no-code feel, different credit system: Lovable (Pro $25 a month) or Bolt.new (Pro $25 a month).
- Mobile app: Emergent (web and mobile apps, Standard from $17 a month billed yearly).
- See the code, keep the AI help: Replit (Core $20 a month, $18 billed yearly).
- Free and local: Dyad (open source, bring your own API keys).
- Full control, you can code: Claude Code or Cursor (both from $20 a month).

Moving a project off Base44
Base44 offers two-way GitHub sync that exports the full source code, so you do not have to start from a blank page.
- Turn on GitHub sync and check that the full project is in a repository you own.
- List what the app depends on: user accounts, database tables, file storage and any integrations. Those are the parts that need a new home, and the data needs exporting.
- Going to another no-code builder (Lovable, Bolt, Emergent)? It is often faster to describe the app again and import your data than to port the old backend.
- Going to Replit, Claude Code, Cursor or Dyad? Open the repository there, ask the agent to get it running, then set up a database and hosting.
Keep the Base44 app live until the new one has your real data and has been used for a few days.
